SAP skills development service launched at SAP UK Headquarters - First web based, personal SAP access service to be fully licensed by SAP
Reading, UK, 26th February 2008: Independent Members Limited launched SID, a new SAP skills development service, at the UK headquarters of SAP on Monday 11th February.
Senior managers from SAP UK were present to support the official launch of SID, which offers SAP consultants a secure, personal, on-line SAP environment in which to develop knowledge and hone practical skills. It is the first such platform to be fully licensed by SAP. Also represented at the launch were companies involved in the development of the service including IBM, Intalec and Smartbunker.
Simon Etherington, SAP SME director, commented on the launch: “SID will prove a valuable service to SAP consultants and IT professionals. It is a simple and highly effective way of allowing an independent contractor to maintain a high level of knowledge of SAP products and therefore maximise the benefit of SAP solutions to the end user.”
John Miller, managing director of Independent Members, which developed, owns and markets SID, introduced the new service explaining: “It was designed primarily for SAP independent contractors, providing members with an individual and secure skills development environment (commonly referred to as a sandbox) that, because it is web-hosted, gives anytime, anywhere access to the user.
“SID is unlike sandbox environments that contractors access at client sites that can be accessed by many other users and are only available at that particular workplace. The personal environment of a SID sandbox gives contractors the confidence to spend time investigating standard SAP Best Practice processes and configuring a personal portfolio of their own processes. These can be retained and re-used in the future and, most importantly, demonstrated to others.”
Bryan Pritchard of AvalonVale UK, a consultancy company specialising in HR and payroll solutions in the SAP market place, has no doubts about taking up the SID service, “Once I heard what SID offered and the advantages it brings to the SAP consultant I could not wait to sign up. Because it is licensed by SAP it makes the independent feel very much a part of the SAP community.”
SID will also maximise the benefit of attending SAP training courses as it allows the consultant to practice after the course to reinforce knowledge gained and then demonstrate their new skills to SAP clients in an interview and project development environment.
